How it works
When you create an agent on TextClaw, we automatically provision a dedicated phone number through Twilio. There's nothing extra to set up — your agent is ready to receive texts as soon as it's created.
Direct messages
Text your agent's number and it will respond just like messaging a friend. Every conversation is stored so your agent remembers context from earlier in the thread.
- Find your agent's phone number on the dashboard.
- Save it as a contact on your phone (or just text the number directly).
- Send a message and your agent will reply within seconds.
Group chats
Add your agent's phone number to any group text. In group chats, your agent is smart about when to chime in — it won't respond to every message.
When does the agent respond in groups?
- When someone mentions the agent by name
- When a message is directed at the agent
- When the conversation topic is relevant to the agent's purpose
Tips
- Your agent's number works with standard SMS — no special app needed.
- Group chats are detected automatically, no configuration required.
- Messages are rate-limited to prevent abuse. If you hit limits, wait a moment and try again.
