About OpenAI

OpenAI is the creator of the GPT and o-series model families. With a Bring Your Own Key setup, you can connect your OpenAI API key to TextClaw and use any model available on your account.

Using OpenAI with TextClaw

To use OpenAI models, bring your own API key and select OpenAI as your provider in the model settings. TextClaw will fetch the models available on your account so you can pick the one you want. Requires a Pro or Max plan.

Getting an OpenAI API key

  1. Go to platform.openai.com/api-keys and sign in to your OpenAI account.
  2. Click Create new secret key.
  3. Copy the key — it is only shown once.
  4. In your TextClaw dashboard, go to Settings, switch to Bring Your Own Key, select OpenAI, and enter your key.
  5. Click Load Models, select a model, and save.

OpenAI charges per token on a pay-as-you-go basis. Pricing varies by model — see the OpenAI pricing page for current rates.
